Layered Defenses Create the Same Blind Spot in Air, Cyber, and Nuclear Tracking
Across defense procurement, software platforms, and nuclear oversight, added layers of protection systematically degrade end-to-end accountability at the points where those layers must talk to one another.
Kuwait's Anduril purchase for layered counter-UAS, the Miasma GitHub campaign and Claude Mythos N-day compression, and the IAEA demand for post-strike Iranian uranium accounting all describe the identical failure mode: when institutions add successive defensive layers (physical sensors, software pipelines, verification protocols) they lose visibility at the integration seams. The Anduril system must correlate drone tracks with existing GCC radars; GitHub's takedown decisions sit between AI classifiers and human reviewers; IAEA accounting depends on Iranian declarations filtered through multiple national technical means. In each case the new layer was sold as redundancy but functions as an un-audited translation step where data is dropped or selectively acted upon. The same pattern appears in the Erlanger Sentri7 failure and the Munich Google AI ruling—proprietary middle layers that no one fully inspects.
Ordinary organizations will keep buying or mandating one more monitoring layer to solve the last layer's failures, quietly making the original problem harder to see until a single breach or shortage forces a full reset.
