dcLVA spread rapidly in China without controlled evidence, prompting regulatory limits and detention of its originator. Existing mechanistic literature on brain lymphatics does not account for the reported speed of recovery. Ongoing trials will test whether any signal survives randomization and blinding.
The episode parallels earlier unblinded surgical enthusiasms later refuted by sham-controlled trials. Current international efforts focus on standardized lymphatic imaging and 12-month cognitive endpoints rather than testimonial footage. Outcome divergence between open-label Chinese cohorts and forthcoming blinded studies will determine whether the intervention survives evidentiary scrutiny.
