Foiled Plot Targets UFC Event at White House: Alleged Ringleader Alvarez Faces Federal Charges Amid Multi-State Investigation

Federal authorities have charged Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, a 31-year-old Mexican national living in Omaha, Nebraska, as the alleged ringleader of a disrupted plot to attack the UFC Freedom 250 event held on White House grounds on June 14, 2026. Prosecutors allege Alvarez, using the online alias “Shepherd,” directed a scheme involving explosive-laden drones to trigger evacuations followed by sniper fire on “high value targets” including President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Elon Musk, and others perceived as “capitalist elites” or aligned with Israeli interests.

The investigation began after the mother of 19-year-old Tycen Proper in Danville, Ohio, reported concerns about her son stockpiling firearms, ammunition, body armor, and communicating online about “missions” and “recons.” Proper was arrested June 10; subsequent searches uncovered Signal chats linking him to “Shepherd.” Alvarez was arrested June 15 during a raid on an abandoned church in Western, Nebraska, which he owned and had designated as a fallback location. Four other men—Bryan Omar Roa and Michael Alan Thomas in California, and Daniel K. Eskridge in Missouri—were also arrested in connection with the plot.

Alvarez faces federal charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States. Court documents describe the group’s anti-government, anti-elite rhetoric and plans for a mass-casualty event. DHS noted Alvarez overstayed a B2 visa in 2001 and received DACA status in 2014. The event proceeded without incident after the FBI disrupted the conspiracy.

This case highlights how family vigilance and rapid inter-agency coordination thwarted a planned attack on a high-profile venue, while underscoring links between online radicalization and real-world threats against public figures.
