Enhanced genomic sequencing of circulating strains and real-time wastewater or mosquito-pool testing could distinguish sustained local transmission from repeated importations earlier than symptom-based reporting alone.

State and county vector-control programs must scale source reduction and targeted adulticiding while clinicians adopt standardized dengue diagnostic algorithms to reduce misclassification with influenza or COVID-19. Next steps include expanded CDC ArboNET reporting thresholds and prospective seroprevalence studies to quantify population-level immunity gaps.
