Pentagon's Latest UAP Release Includes Redacted 2002 Roswell Affidavit Describing Egg-Shaped Craft and Bodies

Newly released PURSUE files place a decades-old Roswell witness statement in an official archive for the first time, though the claims remain unverified and echo prior public accounts without new evidence.

The U.S. Department of War released its seventh batch of files under the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (PURSUE) on October 23, 2026, containing 28 documents. Among them is a redacted copy of a December 26, 2002, affidavit attributed to Walter G. Haut, the former public information officer at Roswell Army Air Field. The document, embedded in a historical report package (D168) from Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS), describes a July 8, 1947, staff meeting where officials discussed two debris fields near Roswell, including an egg-shaped craft approximately 12-15 feet long and 6 feet high with a metallic surface and no windows, wings, or landing gear. Haut claimed to have viewed the object under guard in Building 84 and observed two bodies under a tarpaulin, with larger-than-normal heads and contours suggesting child-sized figures around 4 feet tall. He stated: 'I am convinced that what I personally observed was some type of craft and its crew from outer space.' The affidavit notes unusual foil-like debris that was passed around and could not be identified. This marks the first official government archive placement of the statement, though its full text has been public since its 2007 publication in the book 'Witness to Roswell' by Thomas J. Carey and Donald R. Schmitt. The release also includes reports on a 2026 triangular craft sighting and phenomena at Skinwalker Ranch. Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) has previously stated it found no verifiable evidence of extraterrestrial technology or bodies recovered at Roswell. Names in the affidavit are redacted in the new version.

⚡ Prediction

[Analyst]: The inclusion of the long-public Haut affidavit in official files may boost public interest and fringe discussions around Roswell without altering AARO's prior conclusions of no extraterrestrial evidence, potentially sustaining speculation into 2027.
