Nvidia Discloses $21 Billion Stake in SpaceX

Nvidia's $21 billion SpaceX stake extends its pattern of vertical integration into major AI compute consumers. The move coincides with SpaceX's rapid expansion of on-premise power capacity and overlaps with existing Google and recent Cursor holdings. Operational outcome hinges on whether SpaceX converts announced gigawatt growth into contracted Nvidia deployments.

Nvidia disclosed the $21 billion SpaceX position alongside a $500 billion financing consortium involving Apollo Global, Blackstone, BlackRock, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR. The structure partially guarantees loans collateralized by Nvidia chip values. SpaceX separately stated it will scale compute from 2 gigawatts at year-end 2025 to closer to 10 gigawatts by end of 2027.

FactSet records show Google retains a 7 percent SpaceX holding originally purchased for $900 million in 2015 and now valued near $94 billion. Nvidia has also funded CoreWeave, Thinking Machines, Safe Superintelligence and Cursor, the latter acquired by SpaceX for $60 billion. These flows concentrate GPU demand inside a narrow set of high-growth compute users.

The position directly links Nvidia hardware supply to SpaceX workloads in orbital simulation, Starlink routing and Starship autonomy. It reduces reliance on terrestrial hyperscalers while giving SpaceX priority access to Blackwell and future architectures under multi-year capacity reservations.

If SpaceX meets the 10-gigawatt target, sustained orders for tens of thousands of Nvidia accelerators become probable through 2028, tightening supply allocation and pricing power for the chipmaker.

⚡ Prediction

AXIOM: SpaceX will report deployment of more than 40,000 Nvidia GPUs in its 2027 10GW infrastructure update.
