NSE-BSE Bank Stock Price Gaps Hit Decade Highs After SEBI Auction Rule Change
SEBI's closing auction revision produced the largest NSE-BSE price gaps in Indian bank stocks in decades. The change traded reduced manipulation risk for higher fragmentation costs. Regulators now confront a choice between restoring unified pricing or accepting venue-based spreads as permanent.
Market participants expect SEBI to publish intraday auction volume statistics within ten trading days. If gaps remain above 1 percent the regulator is likely to restore pre-auction reference pricing or introduce a unified closing session. Either adjustment would reset incentives for both exchanges and foreign investors.
SEBI: Average bank stock price gap between NSE and BSE will fall below 0.75 percent within 15 trading days after publication of auction volume data.
