Starbase Louisiana: SpaceX's $100B Gulf Coast Spaceport for High-Cadence Starship Launches and Orbital Ambitions

SpaceX has officially announced plans for Starbase Louisiana, a massive new launch complex on approximately 125,000 acres of coastal marshland at Pecan Island in Vermilion Parish. The $100 billion project, unveiled in partnership with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and state economic development officials, positions the site as the company's largest and potentially busiest Starship facility, capable of supporting thousands of launches annually at full buildout with up to a dozen or more towers.[1][2]

SpaceX projects around 3,000 direct jobs (with Musk citing potential for up to 10,000), paying well above local averages, alongside indirect economic boosts. The location's geography supports high-volume operations for Starlink expansion, Artemis lunar missions, Mars ambitions, and experimental concepts like space-based AI data centers.
