Olinia Uno prototype sets 150000 MXN target price and 125 km range for 2026 launch

President Claudia Sheinbaum drove the Olinia Uno onto stage as part of Plan México. The vehicle supports home charging from standard outlets and includes wheelchair space. Project director Roberto Capuano Tripp confirmed plans for 2000 public chargers in Mexico City, Estado de México, and Puebla.

Current build uses 50 percent domestic materials with an explicit target of 75 percent by 2030 per Secretary Rosaura Ruiz Gutiérrez. Range and speed figures limit the car to urban duty cycles. These constraints match documented low-speed EV segments already sold in Mexico by Chinese brands.

US tariffs at 100 percent on Chinese EVs and the Protecting America from Chinese Cars Act create direct border pressure. Mexican production at this price point tests whether domestic content rules can bypass those barriers. Ford CEO statements on connected-vehicle risks indicate likely USMCA renegotiation friction before volume exports begin.

Sales begin summer 2026. Material localization and charger deployment metrics will determine whether the platform scales beyond prototype stage or remains a policy demonstration.
