PEDE Model Tops Emergent Dark Energy Comparisons Using DESI-DR1 and CMB Data
PEDE ranks highest by AIC and BIC, yet only the variable-curvature model produces a decelerated phase near z=0 that aligns with DESI results. The analysis highlights tensions between information criteria and dynamical consistency. Future DESI year-3 and Euclid data releases will provide decisive tests.
The study reconstructs cosmic expansion history, deceleration parameter, and effective equation of state for each model using a joint likelihood analysis. Data sets include 31 cosmic chronometer H(z) points, Pantheon+ supernovae, DESI-DR1 baryon acoustic oscillations, and Planck CMB power spectra. Curvature is treated as a free parameter rather than fixed at zero, allowing direct tests against DESI hints of evolving dark energy.
DESI Collaboration: Year-3 BAO measurements will exclude the variable-curvature model at >2 sigma if the deceleration parameter remains positive below z=0.1.
