Pennsylvania State Trooper Killed in I-81 Crash by Haitian Illegal Immigrant Truck Driver with Massachusetts CDL

On July 1, 2026, Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael E. Pahira Jr., 44, was fatally struck while conducting a commercial vehicle inspection on the shoulder of Interstate 81 in Cass Township, Schuylkill County. According to state police and multiple reports, Pahira was inspecting a parked semitruck when a second tractor-trailer driven by 33-year-old Michael Bon veered off the roadway, striking Pahira's patrol vehicle and the inspected truck in a chain-reaction crash that pinned the trooper and led to a fire.
